Mochi 餅

The Mochi is a preparation based on rice (glutinous rice mainly). The "Mochi", is in the form of a paste or salt or sweet, square or round, and it is consumed in Japan on the occasion of New Year.

The zoni is a dashi soup in Katsuo (bonite) containing Mochi, whose recipe varies according to the regions. We can also use the Mochi in various and varied dishes such as "Udon" noodles, the Japanese fondue "Nabé" in winter and the Japanese flan "Chawan-Mushi".

You can also eat the Mochi, sweet or savory, to taste.

 

Zenzai
red bean soup

Ingredients for 4 persons)

  • 380g of red bean preparation (in box)
  • 200ml of water
  • 4 pieces of Mochi
  1. In a saucepan, boil water and red beans and then cook for 2 minutes after boiling.
  2. During cooking, grill the oven moochis until golden gilded and inflated.

Ingredients (for 2 people)

  • 2 pieces of Mochi
  • Kinako (soypower)
  • sugar
  1. Mix the same amount of kinko and sugar.
  2. Coating mooshy with food film and go to the microwave for 45-60 seconds. * or cook in boiling water until the dough becomes soft (around 5 min).
  3. Sprinkle Kinako's cooked moochis.

Isobe Mochi

Ingredients (for 2 people)

  • 2 pieces of Mochi
  • algae leaves
  • soya sauce
  1. Grill the oven moochises until golden gold and swollen.
  2. Soak the moochis in soy sauce.
  3. Coating them with seaweed leaves.
